Gardener

It's spring, and as we look outside we see rain, rain, and more rain. Being stuck in our houses it seems easy to stare out the window and watch the rain drops slide down the glass in misery. There is a certain beauty in the rain but we tend to focus on the negatives. So rather than drowning in your thoughts that the rain will never end, rather than running your mind on the fact that you are stuck at home, I urge you to take a moment and just be. This is a time to reflect on yourself, your priorities, and your relationships with God and the people around you. It seems that we are simply buds stuck in the rain with little sunshine and little love. But in this time I encourage you to see that flowers cannot bloom without the rain. We may be in a season of rain right now. It's dark and stormy, there is wind and lightning and it never seems to end. But soon to follow the storm there will be a season of sunshine, of warmth, and of vibrant colors. Take a deep breath and think, the cozy rainy days cuddled up in a corner with your favorite book or craft drinking cocoa or tea. These are the moments we take to grow. You finally have that time to work on self care. Bake some cookies, work on a project around the house, play cards, go on a walk, read a book. You have been so busy with life that you have been avoiding the rain and forgetting to water yourself. Through the life that you have been living you have grown into a bud but you cannot bloom unless you are watered, brought into the sun, and cared for by those who tend to your needs. Allow God to be your gardener. He will bring the rain and the sunshine in its due time. He will encourage you and speak kindness into your life. He will care for you and tend to your needs. And as you bloom, allow it to affect others; for one cannot blossom alone. Spread the kindness that the Lord has poured into you. Be the sunshine in other's lives, and walk with them through the rain. Together we will overcome this rainy season and bloom and blossom like no other in the hands of our gardener.
