I've always wanted to be and feel free. above all else I want to love and be loved. I hold a passion in my heart for reaching out to people who are struggling the way I have, and show them the love and freedom that lies ahead of them. Love, that I can teach, I have experienced it, I have shown it, I have learned it. Freedom, that's where I struggle. I feel confined within the religion of Christianity. Do this, don't do that, act this way, don't say that. And as it swirls in my mind is creates a tornado that I cannot escape. This concept of freedom they say comes with surrendering your life to God seems unreachable. So I sit and think. For hours, for days, for weeks, and months, and years, I ponder what it means to have that freedom. But it's just that. "Freedom in surrender to God." It isn't surrender to religion; or surrender to the Bible. It is about the relationship you build with God. Being a "good Christian" has nothing to do with how much of the Bible you've read, or how many verses you have memorized. It isn't about how loud you sing/worship at church or even how long you've known the Lord. It all comes back to that place with God, just you and him. It comes back to the humming of the worship song that's been on your heart for days. It comes back to the glow that you carry that others notice, there is just something different about you. It comes back to your heart and how you show and accept the love of God. Freedom comes when you realize that God will love you unconditionally. So no matter how you choose worship, make sure God stands at the center of it. Strive not for perfection but for love and grace and courage. Let him guide your path. Listen, you won't know where to go if you don't listen for direction. Spend time talking to him, don't just pray like you're speaking to a god... you are speaking to the God, and he just wants to be in a relationship with you. Speak to him as you would a friend. He knows what's going on in your life; but he still wants to hear about your day. Worship in your own time, in your own space, just you and God. Sooner than you realize you will begin to find the freedom that you were promised from the beginning. It's time to build the freedom that you deserve through a relationship with God,and that looks a little different for everyone. Remember, you are loved so much more than you could ever imagine.
